Who We Are Looking For: The ideal candidate will help to support the sales efforts of the outside sales team. You will work up proposals, project specific drawings, provide technical support, develop leads for the outside sales team to follow up with, and more. Your efforts will have direct impacts on our business in both developing new customers as well as supporting existing ones.

As a growing business, the role has many potential trajectories. These could include growth into an outside sales role, growth into an internal operations role, growth into a senior commercial sales inside support role, or any other possibility depending on your interests and strengths.

Responsibilities

  • Develop proposals for custom commercial projects.
  • Work with mechanical and plumbing engineers to help design projects.
  • Identify leads, manage prospects and acquire new business.
  • Cold-call to develop leads.
  • Technical support on the phone and emails.
  • Develop custom project drawings for our customers.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree of mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
  • Prepared to take on new challenges and learn things on the fly.
  • Outgoing personality and comfort with speaking with new people.

Job description

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for researching, identifying and contacting prospective clients to convey the benefits of using our extensive range of products and services. The Business Development Manager will be expected to meet regularly with existing clients to stay up to date on their business objectives as well as to help them optimize the use of our solutions. This is a very fast-paced position with a lot of travel required, so a successful candidate should be well organized, detail-oriented and enjoy working on the fly.


Compensation: Very competitive base salary + commissions.

Base salary: $100,000 to $125,000

Commissions (uncapped)


Focus: NYC engineers, contractors, facilities management (universities, large buildings, industrial applications)


Responsibility/Ownership: Finding opportunities and developing relationships


Tasks:

  • Following the sales process to build relationships and uncover opportunities.
  • Entertain customers – lunch, dinner, events, etc.
  • Attend association meetings and sit on board of governors.
  • Act as project manager for projects with customers.
  • Design systems, troubleshoot system w/ customers.
  • Provide technical support and on-site support.
  • Learning about and staying current on all products and features we offer as well as competitive offerings.
  • Utilize our CRM system to keep track of activities and customers.
  • Any other task relevant to being a professional in our industry.


Qualifications/*NON-NEGOTIABLES* (below):

**Note: You will NOT be considered if you do not have experience in commercial boiler systems**


  • **A high level of competence in commercial boiler system* and DHW system design, installation, and troubleshooting. Expertise not required, but being able to talk the talk with a field technician to assist in troubleshooting is required. *Note: boiler system mentioned above references all the equipment involved in a boiler system including pumps, expansion tanks, controls, etc.
  • A professional salesperson with 5+ years of sales experience and strong relationships.
  • Must be able to travel into NYC 1-2 days/week & attend industry association meetings.
  • General HVAC understanding is a plus (what is a VRF system, refrigerant cycle basic understanding). Must be prepared and willing to pivot and learn about and sell HVAC equipment (VRF, heat pumps, etc.).
  • Desire to grow within the company. The company is growing and I need people who are interested in growing into bigger roles with more responsibilities and leadership.


Great to Have:

  • Field experience performing installations and service.
  • BS, Mechanical Engineering
  • Outgoing personality and comfort with speaking with new people.
  • Prepared to take on new challenges and learn things on the fly.



Job Type: Full-time


Salary: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year + commission (uncapped) + bonuses

OTE: $130,000.00 - $200,000.00+ annually

Ability to commute:

HQ is in Farmingdale, NY. NYC is territory, must to be comfortable traveling into the city 1-2 days a week. Some travel to Long Island, but most is in NYC. Ideally lives in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau County and could service Long Island. If in 5 Burroughs, NJ or north of city is fine too.
