Director Of Preconstruction - 1353233
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Preconstruction is responsible for overseeing the preconstruction phase of projects, including conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and proposal development. They will manage a team of estimators and work closely with other department heads to ensure that all preconstruction activities are aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
Note: Must possess a high level of competency in the following disciplines: Mechanical systems and estimation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the preconstruction department, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
• Review solicitations and vet opportunities for strategic advantages, corporate alignment, and profitability.
• Oversee the development of project execution strategies aligning estimate, proposal, schedule/sequencing, and contractual obligations while focusing on Safe execution for field resources.
• Ensure compliance with RFPs and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of preconstruction activities.
• Manage the preconstruction budget and resources, including the coordination with Chief Estimator for quantitative take off needs and estimating support.
• Lead the development of estimates and qualified proposals which leverage market advantages, mitigate risks, and ensure company profitability.
• Review estimates and proposals and make recommendations to executive personnel and project operational team.
• Lead final bid closings with executive personnel and project operational team.
• Generate project setup including line-item budget based upon estimate for Director of Preconstruction review prior to accounting entry.
• Lead transition/turn-over meetings with Operations for new awards, clearly conveying organization obligations, scope of work, schedule commitments, vendor/supplier/subcontractor commitments to facilitate a smooth transition from Preconstruction.
• Participate in post project review meeting and collect feedback from Operations and Accounting to reconcile estimated costs vs actual costs.
• Provide pipeline reporting and projections for executive team review
• Establish, manage, maintain customer relationships that are based on delivering the highest level of service, trust and responsiveness.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, rules, regulations, and standards.
• All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Individual must possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to conceptualize the final product.
• Individual must possess the abilities to handle a wide spectrum of work and understand how/when to include various subject matter experts to mitigate risk and/or properly estimate project.
• Individual must maintain high levels of accuracy and possess ability to independently QC work products.
• Advanced computer and mathematical skills.
• Individual must be high energy, team-oriented, cost-conscious, and customer-driven
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.
• Able to maintain focus on goals and the required level of activity necessary to achieve those goals without direct supervision.
