Overview:

A highly skilled and strategic Director of Construction Operations is needed to lead and expand a growing construction division. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, scaling construction capabilities, and ensuring that projects exceed industry standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management:
• Oversee all aspects of construction operations, including project planning, execution, and delivery.
• Implement and refine processes to enhance project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
• Manage resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to optimize project outcomes.

• Team Building & Development:
• Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of skilled construction professionals, including project managers, superintendents, and field staff.
• Develop and implement training programs to elevate team performance and ensure alignment with company standards.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture that drives continuous improvement and innovation.

• Division Expansion:
• Strategically plan and execute the expansion of the construction division, identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with senior management to align division goals with the overall company strategy.
• Monitor market trends and the competitive landscape to position the division for sustained success.

• Estimating & Business Development:
• Participate in the preparation of detailed project estimates, including cost analysis, scope definition, and risk assessment.
• Support business development efforts by identifying potential clients, preparing proposals, and participating in contract negotiations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry partners to drive business growth.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is required.
• Advanced degree (MBA, MS) or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED AP) is a plus.

• Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in construction operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing construction projects from inception to completion, with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and leading teams within a small to mid-sized construction firm.
• Experience with construction estimating, cost management, and business development in a competitive market environment.

• Skills:
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Primavera P6) and estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
