Civil Team Leader – Water/Wastewater Infrastructure
We are seeking a Civil Team Leader to build, lead, and manage a team of civil engineering professionals for various water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves leading site layouts, yard piping design, terrain modeling, stormwater calculations, and performing quality reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
Take projects from conceptual planning to bid-ready documents, including conceptual, preliminary, and final design, design calculations, inter-discipline coordination, preparation of specifications, and quality assurance.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Lead civil site designs for water and wastewater treatment/pumping facilities.
- Design complex treatment plant/pumping yard piping systems and coordinate utilities.
- Develop site paving, access, and fencing designs.
- Create grading and stormwater drainage plans, including terrain modeling.
- Prepare calculations for stormwater detention and conveyance.
- Develop detailed plans and specifications.
- Coordinate floodplain permits and determine base flood elevations.
- Oversee the development of Civil 3D drawings.
- Coordinate with surveyors and geotechnical subconsultants.
- Support construction projects.
- Assist regional teams with business development activities.
- Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and fee estimates.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Recruit and mentor civil team members.
- Plan and manage team workload, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure delivery of quality work products adhering to company standards.
- Develop civil standards, tools, and training resources.
- Drive detailed design coordination across disciplines.
- Occasionally travel for design, construction, and project-related needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 10+ years of civil site design experience, with 2+ years in project or team leadership.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Expertise in piping materials, flow characteristics, and bedding requirements.
- Proficiency in grading and drainage plan design.
- Experience with Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Attributes:
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- 15+ years of civil engineering design experience with 5+ years in team leadership.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
- Experience with stormwater conveyance software, such as HEC-RAS/HMS.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
Additional Information:
This role involves occasional travel for business development purposes, including proposals, interviews, and industry conferences, as well as project-specific needs such as site assessments and construction support.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a team-oriented attitude, and the ability to effectively collaborate on large infrastructure projects.
