Overview
Seeking a detail-oriented professional to join a collaborative team environment in the construction industry. This role focuses on developing accurate, constructible, and timely HVAC estimates for various market segments, including healthcare, mission-critical, life sciences, office, and hospitality. Candidates will contribute to the bid process, improve estimating tools, and interface with project teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform material and labor take-offs in compliance with project plans, specifications, code requirements, and fabrication standards.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, foremen, and sales teams throughout the bid process and project lifecycle.
- Identify and address deficiencies, gaps, and risks in estimates, proposing solutions for timely project completion.
- Source and qualify material and subcontractor bids per project requirements.
- Utilize estimating tools such as FastPipe and EstMEP to prepare accurate and timely estimates.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to update productivity metrics and enhance design/build workflows.
- Facilitate the use of standard estimating assemblies/modules and maintain pricing updates in estimating systems.
- Develop and support budgeting tools for piping, ductwork, plumbing, and controls.
- Attend job review meetings for feedback on completed projects.
- Continuously develop skills and maintain a positive, proactive attitude.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Construction Management, or a high school diploma with 5+ years of supervisory experience in mechanical trades.
- Proficiency with PC-based software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and intermediate-level Excel skills.
- Strong time management, multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Progress toward a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years in Piping or Plumbing trades.
- Familiarity with MEP estimating software.
- Experience with tools like FastPipe, EstMEP, Revit, or AutoCAD.
- Master or Journeyman Plumber’s license.
