We're a leading construction company seeking a Director of Construction Operations to join our growing team. You'll play a vital role in managing and executing projects, fostering a strong operational culture, and ensuring safety, quality, and financial responsibility. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience with both national operations and day-to-day project management through oversight of our Denver office.
What You'll Do:
- Be a strategic mastermind! Develop and drive operational processes for the entire new construction division, including staffing, workflows, procurement, and improvement initiatives.
- Cultivate a collaborative environment! Build and maintain a culture of accountability, collaboration, and support across the national operations team.
- Wear multiple hats! Manage local projects in the Denver office, gaining hands-on experience with daily operations and ensuring quality, safety, and financial soundness.
- Become a financial whiz! Oversee market-specific financial reporting, with expertise in resource forecasting, large procurement needs, and WIP (Work in Progress).
- Empower your teams! Provide local operations teams with the resources and support they need to achieve project success and exceed client expectations.
- Identify and mitigate risks! Track key metrics to proactively identify and address potential issues within the operations team.
- Lead with purpose! Run operational meetings, review staffing needs, and collaborate with local operations and recruiting to develop effective strategies.
- Champion problem-solving! Represent the team during operational conflicts and lead the resolution process.
- Be a multi-location leader! Manage operations teams across multiple offices.
- Secure resources! Facilitate procurement strategies for large equipment and materials.
- Build strong relationships! Develop and maintain positive relationships within individual markets.
- Be data-driven! Populate data into Barrier reporting tools as needed.
- Contribute to winning proposals! Participate in proposal and scope reviews to ensure project success.
- Uphold our reputation! Maintain and enhance the professional and ethical reputation of the new construction team.
You're a Perfect Fit if You Have:
- 7-8 years of experience in commercial construction operations
- A construction management degree (preferred)
- Proficiency in construction financials and accounting, including WIP
- Solid understanding of construction documents like contracts, ASIs, and RFPs
- Experience managing teams across multiple locations
- A self-starter mindset with excellent time management skills
- Top-notch communication skills
- A solution-oriented approach to projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
