Location: Ann Arbor & Troy, MI.
Our client is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Project Manager to work out of one of our Michigan offices located in Ann Arbor or Troy. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role where they can manage challenging projects, partner with junior and senior geotechnical engineers, provide mentorship to junior staff, engage with clients, and participate in business development pursuits. Project managers perform geotechnical analysis and coordinate field inspections and investigations under supervision of company leadership, including on-site direction of geotechnical drilling activities as well as in office duties. Our client works on a variety of public and private sector projects in the Energy, Infrastructure, Commercial, Education, Industrial, and Telecommunications markets. Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering
Master’s degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering preferred
Professional Engineering (PE) license in Michigan
10 or more years of demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering consulting
2 to 5 years or more in Project management experience
Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
Strong prioritization, coordination and management skills, self-directed and self-motivated
Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
Good administrative and time management skills with keen attention to detail
Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance and have an excellent driving record
Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, and travel requiring out of town, overnight stays
Responsibilities and Duties
We are looking for someone with the capability to provide leadership, management, and support for complex technical and field projects.
Job responsibilities include the following:
Represent our client in a professional manner
Coordinate with and lead teams to prepare technical proposals, develop cost estimates, and execute projects
Develop scope of work, project budgets, work breakdown structures, and schedules
Safely manage and execute field exploration programs and construction oversight activities
Perform, delegate and oversee a variety of geotechnical engineering analyses with and without the use of engineering software
Prepare Geotechnical Engineering reports, memorandums, proposals, specifications, and other related deliverables
Be actively involved during the construction phase of projects
Positively interact with client representatives
Manage project teams, budgets and schedules, delegate project tasks and mentor junior staff
Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time and have a strong ability to multi-task
